Hofburg Gardens: the Green Oases of the Former Imperial Residence

Burggarten and Volksgarten are enchantingly situated in the middle of the monumental Hofburg and Ringstrasse area. We owe the creation of these green living rooms to the demolition of the bastions ordered by Napoleon. Strolling between old trees, thousands of roses, palm houses, temples, monuments, and fountains, we conclude the history of the house of Habsburg and its pronounced love of gardens. Holiday feeling guaranteed!

From Olio Soup to Kaiserschmarrn - Dine Like an Emperor

The Viennese court kitchen was influenced by the cultural diversity of the empire. Which speciality did Eleonore bring from Portugal, and Mary of Burgundy 500 years ago? Recipes came from Bohemia, Moravia, Italy, Serbia, Poland, and Silesia. Let us surprise you! The tour includes the recipe for the emperor's olio soup! Recommendation: optional tour of the Imperial Silver Collection. Entrance fee extra.

Art & Culture

Upstream we ride towards the former capital of Austria, Klosterneuburg. After a relaxed, easy ride we reach the monastery with its art treasures worth seeing. A short tour inside and some refreshments on the large terrace give us enough energy for the return. No special skills required. Easy to moderately difficult bike tour.

Our recommendation: about 180 minutes, modern rental bikes included.

Kunsthistorisches Museum / Art History Museum - Kunstkammer

The Kunstkammer Wien is the most important collection of its kind in the world, modelled on the chambers of art and curiosities of the late Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Guests experience a world of beauty and wit, curiosities, and wonder.

The main works were collected from Vienna, Prague, Ambras and Graz. They include Miseroni's 'Dragon Bowl', Cellini's 'Salt Cellar' and the 'Table Automaton', which is an incredible clockwork table decoration, as well as exquisite ivory carvings.

Powerful Women in Vienna

In Vienna only few monuments are dedicated to women, yet so many interesting women have lived in our town and influenced its history – not only in a passive way as wives, muses, or lovers of influential men. On this tour our focus is on outstanding and strong female figures from politics and science, art, and economy.

Vienna’s Wildlife in Art and Nature

Cats and dogs are the most favourite pets of the Viennese, but inside the city you find many other creatures. On the one hand, they are real because they have found their habitat in the buildings and parks. On the other hand, they are made of stone and bronze and sometimes not even recognized. This is a rather unusual wildlife tour through the old town of Vienna where you almost learn as much about animals like during a visit in the Schönbrunn Zoo…
